OpenManage Install - What Should We Use???
I am hoping that someone already using the OpenManage instrumentation can point us in the right direction. In our hospital, we are a Dell shop through and through on the client side. I am looking to figure out what parts and pieces of the OpenManage Instrumentation we need to use to accomplish the tasks we want. They are as follows:
- Monitor hardware for potential failures (HDD, RAM, etc.)
- Remotely configure and flash BIOS
- Monitor chassis intrusion
- Get specific hardware information on all assets
This is a basic list of the things we want to be able to do, but enough to get us started. I have been looking at the IT Assistant and the Client Instrumentation, but I am having a hard time deciphering if they will truly do what we need. We currently have a very successful Microsoft SMS 2003 implementation in place, and don't plan on changing that. We plan to use SMS to get the Client Instrumentation out to our workstations. The server we will be installing the OpenManage Instrumentation is Windows Server 2003, and I have seen there are issues installing it on that version of server as well. If anyone can shed some light on whether I'm on the right path, I'd truly appreciate it. Any advice or lessons learned would be appreciated as well. Since we are a hospital, we don't have a lot of room for error. Especially since we are a Children's hospital!!! Thanks in advance...
