Problems when connecting Virtual Media via the Virtual Console on idrac7
Hello,
I'm using PowerEdge R620 with idrac7 version 1.51.51 installed.
I start the Virtual Console, then choose Virtual Media -> Connect Virtual Media
I get an 'Initializing Connection' dialog that only displays 'Connecting' message.
After a while the dialog disappears, but I'm not connected, since in the 'Virtual Media' menu I still have 'Connect Virtual Media' entry.
I've Googled on this problem for a while and have not found any solution.
Tested on Linux, Windows, Mac OS, everywhere the same behavior.
In the server settings, under Overview -> Server -> Attached Media I do have Attach Mode set to Attach.
Do you have any clues what could be wrong?
BTW, I'm connecting to the server via a SOCKS proxy. I checked Java Configuration: it uses browser's proxy settings. I even changed Java Config and entered that same proxy setting but it didn't help (I'm using Firefox 29, latest Java).
I have all the same settings except that my web interface and console look slightly different, maybe because I have new version. Here are the settings:
Hello, Was same issue on similar server. Try to restart idrac (racadm racreset) - in my case it helped (iDRAC fw 1.57.57) Or you can downgrade idrac firmware to ver. 1.46.45 http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/04/Drivers/DriversDetails?driverId=JYX4C in my case it also helped

Cgenie,
I would start by updating the BIOS and Drac to current, you can find the updates below -
BIOS - http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/19/Drivers/DriversDetails?driverId=V7P04&fileId=3376258359&osCode=WS8R2&productCode=poweredge-r620&languageCode=EN&categoryId=BI
Idrac 1.57- http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/19/Drivers/DriversDetails?driverId=XH6FX&fileId=3368816948&osCode=WS8R2&productCode=poweredge-r620&languageCode=EN&categoryId=ES
After that you can try again and see if it is resolved. If not then you also have the option of setting Virtual Media via the racadm commands -
Let me know how it goes.
