Virus

I got a virus on my computer and I had not backed up my data...I lost all of my picutres, music, and documents. Is there anyway I can retrieve that information? On the my computer screen the os has a red bar, does that mean my files are still there? My computer will not let me restore to an earlier date and time, saying there is no configuration for that. Am I just out of luck?

    Wgavin2710 welcome to the forum.

Unfortunately This forum does not support help to clean infections any more. You can find expert help in:

You need to start here first. Read and follow the guide.

    Good luck.

Be aware that -http://fastfix.gofreeserve.com has no involments whatsoever with DeLL forum and any of his instructions you follow would be under your responsability alone.

BTW my security system did not allow me to go to his site. This is what Web Of Trust says about it:

    Hi Wgavin2710,

    Welcome to Dell Community.

It could be that your files are not really gone, but that the infection has hidden them.

My security will not allow me to go to fastfix.gofreeserve.com. Please refer to the information and instructions provided above by IROC9555 to post in the Malware Removal Forum at SpywareHammer and have the staff trained in malware removal walk you through the diagnostic logs and a cleanup. Help is free, but you will need to register there.

In addition, there are other options listed at the top of this Dell forum. Some are free; some require a fee. Please use only one resource. It can be counter-productive to have too many people trying to help. Good luck! :emotion-1:
