VSI - Storage Pool Management - Client ID ???

Hello All,

I'm setting up the VSI, when registering the SPM server, do you just use the VC credentials?

I'm not sure what "Client ID" is referring to.

when i use the VC credentials (root as I'm using VCVA) i get the error:

"Unable to register with the server.: Unable to communicate with the server"

any ideas?

    Hi,

when you're on VNX only you have to download the VSI Unified Storage Management Tool.

The documentation could be found here EMC VSI for VMware vSphere - Unified Storage Management.

    Hi,

SPM needed when using Symmetrix arrays, but based on your attached screenshots you're running on VNX arrays.

So do you really need assistance on Symmetrix SPM or VNX?

    Regards,

    Ralf

    Hi Ralf,

    Thanks for the reply.

    I’m using VNX

The VSI works if I (at cluster level)

EMC -> Unified Storage -> Provision Storage

It does not work if I:

    EMC -> Configure Storage Allocations

All the documentation I read pointed me at the SPM, but yes, all SYMM related.

Should I be able to use the “EMC -> Configure Storage Allocations” option?

    Thanks

Also worth noting - SPM is deprecated.  All future work will go into USM, which now supports both VNX(e) and Symmetrix VMAX
