EMC CAVA Installation

Dears,

If we need to enable the Antivirus checking on the VNX5300 NAS part, are we forced to install the Common Event Enabler on the Antivirus Server itself, or we can install it on any Server/PC in the network, having an Antivirus agent installed on it?

The idea is that we are running a hosted Antivirus service, where the Antivirus server is connected remotely through VPN and we don't have access priviledges on the Antivirus server itself.

Regards,

U can run CAVA on a server/PC (ideally more than one) with AV agent installed, best practices says to have dedicated servers virus scanning with CIFS.

How many AV servers are needed depends on how many files and/or users you have, whether you have scanning on read enabled or not and your network configuration.

Yes, you must install them on the box where the antivirus program is running.

    Hi Sridhar,

I would like to know if you have any experience of how to setup CAVA on VNX.

    Thanks.

    Anwar.

Not extensive, I have only worked on setting it up once with McAfee AV. Best resource would be to go through the pdf "Using Common Event Enabler for Windows". If you have any specific question then I would say open a new discussion so more people can help you.
