raid group issue

I need to remove three solid state drives from our VNX5300 SAN so I can replace them with traditional SAS drives.  I'm trying to clarify I the solid state drives are being used at this time.  When I look at properties for the drives they show up as one is a hot spare the others are in a raid 1 disk group, disk group number is 122.  But when I look at disk groups there is no number 122.  How do I determine if these drives are in use and how do I remove them so I can replace them?

Thanks for the help.

    hi rjroot,

    Do you know mitrend?? or monitoring and reporting tool?

    the first is a assessment tool and told you, how do you configure the VNX5300 and if you use the three SSD.

    Are this SSD for Fast cache or is a simple RAID?.

    Best regards

    Manu

    In Unisphere, on the "System" page check "System Properties" under "System Management" section on the right column.  On the dialog box that opens for Storage System Properties click on "FAST Cache" tab. There, under Disks, you will see if any disks are dedicated for FAST Cache. If they match the disks you are looking for then you will need to destroy the FAST Cache and then go on with other procedures.

    Secondly, you can use Unisphere Service Manager (USM), to get a full configuration report in HTML/Excel format and check for "SP Summary" tab and "Physical Disk Details" tab to get information on the disks.

    If the disks are used for FAST Cache then I would suggest you ensure that they are absolutely not needed from a workload perspective. (Check for the individual Storage Pools information and see if FAST Cache box is checked/on before proceeding with other procedures)

    run "naviseccli -h getrg -messner "

    search output for that bus/enclosure/disk info. It will tell you if it's part of any raid groups (could be private raid group that comprises a pool)

    Yes, I'd think it's likely to be FAST Cache.

    naviseccli -h arraysp cache -fast -info will show you also.

    or if you want more details about that RAID group and can execute naviseccli from a powershell session;

    naviseccli -h arraysp -spa getrg -messner | select-string -pattern '122' -context 0,19

    ...and agree with Zeeshan's recommendations about being cautious/judicious about removing FAST Cache from an active array.

    Can I ask why you need to remove and replace with SAS disks? Extra space ? New RG?
