VNX 5700 SAS Connection
Hi,
On a VNX5700 there are 4 SAS ports available per SP, i was thinking using them all but on documentation like :
EMC® VNX™ Family VNX5700™ Hardware Information Guide REV A03 (october 2011)
they are using only 2 SAS ports per SP in cabling DAE section.
My question is : can we use the 4 SAS ports or is there some limitation ?

Hi
For a VNX5700, you can use all 4 SAS backends.
Typically a SAS backend bus provide you with +- 560MB thrughput. If you know the amount of backend IOPS you will do doing to your VNX and avg block size, you can determine how many backends is suitable.
eg. 50000 backend IOPS with avg of 32KB
50000*32 = 1600000 = 1600MB/s
In this example here, you should have min. of 3 backend buses to handle the load.

i am using 4 back-end buses, i have 4 DAEs per bus right now.
