Hello, I´m new to VNXe, I´m trying to test connectivity of a CIFS server, usually in celerra I do a server_ping server_2 mydomain.net or in the gui selecting an specific interface, is that gone in VNX? I manage to get in the CLI but none of the cmds that I´m used to work, any idea if its possible?

Ok, I know what you mean, but will that allow me to execute the NAS commands? i.e.: server_x, nas_x..etc. because I can access CLI but the cmd are not recognized. thanks.

No - but that's the only CLI for the VNXe
What you tried is probably the ssh service login - that is purely for support & service diag
I suggest you have a discussion with your local EMC or partner technical contact on how a VNXe works

It's a set of Windows or Linux commands like navicli that you need to download and install on a client

For diag details you can also type svc_ in the ssh login
There should be some command to get network info there

yep I tried that
, the thing is that the CIFS interface is on a different subnet than the control station or whatever is called on the VNX, and doesnt allow you to ping from other interfaces. Im unable to join a CIFS to a domain because I get an error message: unable to locate any Domain controller in the active directory domain. So I just wanted to make sure the CIFS can reach the domain servers before checking with network or firewall teams.

OK so there is no way to test connectivity like in Celerra, thats all I needed to know since I cant find that on the manuals. we dont own the array I only manage it for one of our customers so I dont have an EMC guy, thats the reason I came to the forum after reading the manuals . thanks for the help.

Well - a regular ping from the ssh login is better than nothing

Note that this capability also exists in the VNXe GUI. To access this feature navigate to the Settings->More Configuration->Routing Configuration page. In the table, select the SP you want to use as the source and click on the "Ping Destination" button at the bottom of the screen. This will open a dialog that lets you select the target to ping as well as the interface to use which should allow you to test the combinations you are looking to validate. Support for this feature does not yet exist in the UEM CLI but is planned for a future release.
To reinforce a discussion higher in this stream: In general, the CLI you access via ssh (svc commands) is meant for service and support and is not meant at as general purpose CLI as is found on the Celerra or VNX File products. The general purpose CLI for VNXe is the UEM CLI. You can get the kits to download the client as well as the user guide on the VNXe Downloads page.
