I have a new Dell Dimension and just bought a Seagate External Hard Drive to backup my system on. The external drive did not come with any backup software, and I'm not fond of the backup software that XP has. Any recommendations on a good Backup Software program that I might purchase??
Should also help others who are considering making backups using Acronis.
The above link gives full graphic details on making backups using Acronis ... suggest you add it to your bookmarks or print out.
You may have to change your BIOS to ensure that you can boot from your CD/DVD-ROM drive in the event of Windows being unable to load. You would then use the Bootable Disk to load Acronis.
All explained in the above link.

I also highly recommend Acronis 10 ... IMO it's by far the best.
I have successfully made backups on
DVD-RW Disks
External Hard Drive
The Dedicated Acronis Secure Zone partition
with no problems in all cases.
