booting problems with dell inspiron 500m

hi,

 somebody please help me. when i start my computer it gives a warning as follows

Warning: Dell's disk monitoring system has detected that drive 0 on the primary EIDE controller is operating outside of normal specifications. It is advisable to immediately backup your data and replace your hard disc drive.

strike F1 to continue, F2 to run the setup utility

i recently reinstalled XP-home on it. it still showing the same message.

    You should probably take the friendly advice, and "immediately backup your data".
    ... then scan the drive for errors and "Scan for attempt recovery of bad sectors" (Right-click the drive, select Properties -> switch to Tools tab -> push Check Now button).

    You may have a DELL Hardware Diagnostics CD. Drop it in the drive, boot from it, and let it check your drive.

    Is it too hot?

    hi, that message is what you call "smart message" if ur system is still in warranty call dedll tech supp asap so that they can replace the drive. if not, just buy a new hdd.

    thank you guys,

            i did a clean re-installation of operating system and reformatted hard drive. it fixed my problem and it is working just fine now.
