Cannot Install Adobe software on Inspiron 6400

When I insert Adobe Premiere Elements 2.0 into my SONY DVD+-RW DW-Q850A drive on my brand new Dell Inspiron 6400, the DVD just spins and fails to start.  When I try to open or explore the DVD, no files or folders appear to be on the disk, which is labeled Premiere Elem 2.  The version I have has never been used before, and will start up on other machines.  My DVD functions fine when I play DVDs on it.  I do not have a previous version installed.  My system appears to meet all of the software requirements.  My processor is an Intel Core 2 Duo, 5600 rpm, 1.83 GHz and 2.0 GB Ram.  Any ideas why nothing is happening?

Try browsing the CD on a different PC. If files don't show up there too, then it could just be a bad disk and you'll have to contact either Adobe or Dell, depending on where you got Elements. If it's ok on the other system, then you may have a hardware problem on the Inspiron.

Thanks Ron, I have already tried the software on several other machines, and it works fine.  The DVD drive also seems to be fuctioning correctly on my Insprion 6400.  Is there any reason why my DVD drive will not recognize this disc?

You seem to have covered all the bases, so I don't know what else to add.

Do you have the latest firmware for the Sony drive?  You can find the latest one here.

If that doesn't help, try copying the disk on another computer and installing from the copy.
