    Hello,

I think the problem is with the website.  I couldn't even pull up the page.  I would wait a little while and try again and see if it works then.

Many users are having difficulty accessing updates and when they do, they are extremely slow.  I've seen no explanation but the guess is, the freeware download site does not have the capability to handle the (now) large volume of updates given the way AVG updates work...that is, larger files than the more state-of-the-art incremental files used by other vendors.  A number of users who require a freeware A/V product are switching to AVAST with results reported to be very satisfactory:

The performance hit is slightly greater than that of AVG however, it is also a more sophisticated and configurable program.

To All replies, I set my auto update to update 5 minutes ahead of time showing on my computer. I waited the 5 minutes and AVG updated fine. Have no idea why I could not do a manual up date when the automatic worked fine. It could have been, it would have updated if I had cliked on manual one more time? I read the link msil217 gave, if I have problems next time I update I will try that. Thanks to all. Doogie
