help - reinstall
I know very little about computers. How do I "start from scratch" with my computer? It has a lot of stuff on it that I don't need, and don't know how it got there. Do I just reinstall or do I have to delete things before I reinstall? I want it to be like how it was when I first got it.

On Denny's website Denny's New Dell User's Guide at http://www.djdenham.com/Install%20Procedures.htm It say "CAUTION--Read Before Proceeding
If you are using a Dimension or Inspiron system made after July 15, 2004 your hard disk has a partition on it which can be used to restore the system to an "as shipped" condition. The procedure for doing this is given here at http://support.dell.com/support/topics/global.aspx/support/kb/en/document?dn=1090151&c=us&l=en&s=dhs&cs=19 If you reinstall Windows XP you will rewrite the Master Boot Record on the hard disk and this feature will no longer be available."
