i have a dell n5010 and i tryed to get xp on it but i can`t. every time i wanna install it sooner or later gives me the same blue screen error and i can`t continue. i completed all the steps and i can`t understand what i m doing wrong. please help!
i m thinking maybe the driver is not the good one cuz adding it in "windows" and completing everything is all done like in the tutorial but how i know now what driver to get?
Did you load the storage (AHCI/SATA) driver at the F6 prompt during Windows Setup from a floppy disk - or integrate that driver into your installation media using the likes of nLiteOS.com?
i used the driver from dell site and yes i selected multiple driver files i did everything. first time when it showed the blue screen error was after i formated the partition and second time after windows xp is loading files. in bios is sata setted.
XP is not supported on the N5010, so if you downloaded the driver from Dell, it is the wrong one. As Dell does not supply the drivers for XP on this model, use the driver I gave you the link for in my first post.
so i downloaded the drivers u gived me i integrated them into your installation media using the likes of nLiteOS.com and when i wanna install win xp at the point wjere i suppose to enter for formating the partition my laptop is closing like it doesn t have power. it shuts down and i can turn it on after but same thing happend when i try again the install. what showd i do next?
As a test to see if there is a driver issue or not, to go your BIOS Setup (F2) and see if you can set SATA/AHCI to ATA/Compatibility/Legacy.
I would suspect some sort of hardware error at this point - bad hard drive if it is happening at this point every time (anything prior to this point does not use the drive).
