hijack lists

I have ssen a lot of talk about hijack lists.  I have been having problems with boot speed and the internet terminating for no reason.  It is not a virus or spyware, could it be something from this list?  If so, where and how do I find this list? If not, when would I want to pull a hijack list?

    The 'list' is created by a program called HijackThis, and represents a compilation of your computer settings.
