Latitude C600 shuts down automatic

I was given a Dell Latitude C600, hard drive was wiped clean.
I tried to install windows XP home (full version), it starts to load then just shuts off automatic.
The servel times i have tried to reload, once i have got a ACPI compliant error.
I updated BIOS to A23 Driver web page says this is the latest update?
I have checked my memory, replaced, rearranged, etc.

Help any ideas, do i have to install any other drivers before XP?
Or is this thing a door stop?

    Ssikweb,
You probably need to check the specific model of the hard drive in the C600.  There are firmware updates available here: http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/devices.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=gen&SystemID=LAT_PNT_P3C_C600&os=WW1&osl=EN
Note:  Most of these Hitachi hard drive firmware updates fix a DVD stutter problem when the hard drive shares the same bus as the DVD drive.  This may be the cause of your blue screen.  The DVD may be "stuttering" and therefore can not continue the installation process.
