Microsoft word converter

When I try to open a file in word 2002 I am told I need a converter to display the file correctly.  When I reply to install I am told it's not available and I should insert "Microsoft Word 2002 disk.  I don't have this disk.  What can I do to open my file?

If you purchased Microsoft Works when you got your Dell, then you should have some CDs for Works.  Word is on one of those CDs.

I opened the Word Viewer that you suggested.  The site is for Word 97/ 200 Viewer [word 97] [windows 3.X].  Since I have Word 2002 and Windows XP will this download be the right one for my Dell computer?

I downloaded the program but still receive the error message.  I found Microsoft Works Suite 2003 set of 5 disc in my carton from Dell.  Should I install Disk 1 which is the Microsoft Works Suite 2003 Setup?  Will I lose any documents I have in my Word file if I install Disc 1?

I suggest you first save any existing Word docs to a CD or floppy and then use the Works CD #1 and install Word.

    Hey  there!

Please follow these steps I am sure about that your file will open.

Click Options.  Click Advanced.  Scroll to the General section, and then select the Confirm file format conversion on open check box. Note: When this check box is selected, Word displays the Convert File dialog box every time you open a file in a format other than a Word format (Word formats include .
