I just bought an XPS 400 with Dell DataSafe (2 160GB hard drives with RAID 1 and Norton Ghost 10)

I must admit that when i purchased the system i did not understand how DataSafe was supposed to work. I thought that Norton Ghost would back up my entire hard drive from Drive C to the second hidden "mirror" drive" .

That turns out not to be the case. There are two actual 160GB drives in my machine. From what I have been able to find out, the primary hard drive ('C') is constantly being mirrored to the second hidden drive (by RAID1) and Norton Ghost works by partitioning my "C" drive and is creating restore points in a virtual drive labeled "D".

So, How is Norton Ghost any differnt that Windows System Restore and why do I need it?

I also just found a reference to something called Dell PC Restore which I haven't had time to research yet. What is this and is it yet another reduntant backup system?

And, am I correct that RAID1 is backing up the "C" drive to the hidden drive and that I don't need to do anything to get it to work?

Also, (since no manuals or documentation came with DataSafe :smileymad: ) are there any articles that explain how I use it if I ever do suffer a catastrophic failure? Same for RAID 1, Exactly how do I use it if I need to?
