I recently got Inspiron 700m with XP Home. It came with some additional free sofwares like aol/corel word perfect etc etc. The overall size on my system was less than 2 GB but my hidden partison size was set to 6.6 GB. This is completely stupid. Is there anyway to recover the unused space from hidden partison without using partision magic?
I still want the PC restore functionality, and just recover the unused the space from the hidden partision.
Thanks,
Karthik
PS: The reason I dont want to use partison magic is because I dont want to pay for it. If there is some good free user friendly software, let me know.

No, anything done to reclaim this space will disable PC Restore.
are you sure? too bad i need to sacrifice atleast 4 GB (of total 6.6 GB, i assume it uses 2.6 GB) to having the system restore facility. i sincerely feel dell needs to address this issue immediately. why sud 4 GB go waste?

You can go into Drive Management and see exactly how much of the partition is being used...
Thanks very much for the responses. I used a partition manager to look at exact sizes of hidden partision. I found I am losing just 50 MB or so and not 3 GB as I had expected. The main reason was I had forgotten to taken into account that my actuall HDD size is 37.5 rather than 40 GB. Anyway, thanks.
