Well, it does but then it won't restart.  An examination of the task manager shows that QW.EXE is still an active process. I can end the process and Quicken 99 will start OK, but the problem remains.

Being slightly paranoid about security I ran a virus check with Norton Security 2005. None reported. So then I did a repair re-install of Windows XP sp 2. That seemed to go OK. Behold! The Quicken problem was corrected – but, alas, for only a short while. I am now contemplating a reformat of the hard drive followed by a complete re-installation of Win XP.

Can someone give me a clue as to what the problem might be, and is there is a less drastic fix?
