RAM requirements for Win7

Does anybody have any thoughts on how much RAM would be needed on a 64 bit Win7 laptop for good performance with the possibility of say three user profiles logged on simultaneously?  (I assume fast user switching is still available in Win7).

I believe that I read somewhere that 4GB is suggested for 64 bit Win7, but is that the minimum? or is 4GB actually sufficient for decent performance? I don't plan on using it for heavy gaming, and am planning on ordering a discrete graphics card.

Windows 7 is memory efficient. You will use 60% as much RAM as with Vista. However, get 4GB to allow virtual storage of the three users and any possible future needs. For most people, 4GB is  more than enough. Remember, with 64-bit Win 7, you will have all the 4GB available instead of 3-3.5 with 32-bit Win 7.

4gb is plenty for your needs.
