I am sure this is all over this forum, but I got 3 questions. I recently upgrade to Vista, my computer came with the free upgrade thing when it. I have having problems now with my printer, my blackberry software and the fact that some programs never installed back. I have read where some people with differnt RC version(whatever that means)dont have any issues. 1st question how do you tell what RC version of windows that you have 2nd question is first how do you roll back to XP or can you even roll back. 3rd if you have a lower RC version, can you upgrade to one of the other later RC version
The link you have is if you do a nondestructively clean install as in do not format the drive
the process names the folder windows old and you can do a roll back to an earlier version
of windows.
The upgrade process names the folders something different and the roll back will not work !
See Yea.
Important If the Windows.OLD folder does not exist, you cannot follow the steps in this article to restore the previous Windows installation to this computer.
Well the programs that didn't install back are the Netwaiting, Quickset, Digital Line Detect, and the Dell Support 3,2,1 As far as the blackberry software I tried to re-download the desktop software and that did nothing. Also the driver for my printer is not working and i got it from the Epson website. So I guess this RTM version of windows is not the same release as what what put out, i just figured that since i waited so long to do the upgrade they would have everything fixed by now. Oh well i guess i have to wait.
re-downloading the same software probably won't help - you need to make sure it's vista compatible. did you make sure that you were downloading the vista driver for your printer?
as far as the other programs - of course they wouldn't automatically install since they are not a part of windows to begin with.
