Running diagnostics for 600m

I am having trouble running Dell Diagnostics. DELLDIAG.EXE is on my hard drive, but when I double click on it, I see a DOS window briefly, then nothing happens. What am I doing wrong? Thanks

    Thank you for using the Dell Community Forum.

    Here is some information on running the diags on your system.

    Press the F12 key while booting and choose to run the diagnostics.
