Is it possible to have 2 desktops running? Reason...Switch to a less cluttered desktop for same user. I do not want to create or change users. Thanks for any help!
No, same monitor....just that I have so many icons on my desktop and husband only used 2...game and email....:smileytongue: ....so I thought I would give him a clean desktop. I just dont want to go thru setting up another OE and all that.
Certainly, even M$ can do it for you:

look for the "Virtual Desktop" toy, aka Deskman (Desktop Mangager)
And here's a Google search that leads you many other alternatives:

Thank you for the suggestion. I did download and install "Virtual desktop". However it is a background changer mostly. You cannot have different icons on each screen, which is what I am trying to accomplish. I'll check out the second site you recommended. Thanks again!
DeskMan is not just changing the background, you can have separate apps running in each virtual desktop. You may not be able to set up separate groups of icons, but you can segregate the work you do in each desktop while running.
It's been a while since I used that, mostly I'm satisfied running one or two main apps in a single session. At the office I've had a dual monitor setup that let me get more complicated when I need to.
Need is not for running different applications......I need to switch back and forth from a screen with just 2 or 3 shortcuts (icons) to my screen with "all" shortcuts and icons. With Deskman, when I deleted a shortcut from one screen it also was gone from the others.

I'm afraid it isn't possible.
