Slow Logging Off

Hi All
I'm trying very hard to find out why my computer is so slow closing down or Logging off, I discovered this when I saw my friends computer closing down, she pays for a lower grade of AOL Broad Band, I'd have thought the oppersite would be true.
Well, coming of the internet is slow after I have to wait for my screen name to show a blue background before the X to close will work.
Further into shutdown/Log off the Desk top appears after it rolls down from the top, the icons then take their form from the symbols beneath.
There's quite a wait after I click each log offpoint to end it.
I've tried different anti virus and spyware, nothing found.

    hi!

i would like to know what system are you using. you might also want to check if you have a hardware failure cause sometimes slow performance could be caused by a bad hard drive.

    Hi Noaj

I have a Dimension 2400 (P4 Processor) I run windows XP2 with AOL Platinum Broadband.

I've done a computer health check (actually, there's been many) and I have 58% memory free.

Try installing User Profile Hive Cleanup Utility (uphclean.exe), free from Microsoft:

How much RAM is in this system? How much free space on hard drive? Have you tried cleaning out all .tmp files etc from the hard drive (eg, run Windows Disk Cleanup utility), empty browser cache? When was last time you ran defrag on hard drive?

I presume you mean uphclean.exe fixed it. Great! And, I like my beer cold, thank you.
