Steps to restore computer

I'm having some issues with my Dimension E521 Vista computer so I thought I'd to a system restore but I'm not quite sure how to go about doing it.
Are there any tutorials on this or could someone tell me how to do this?

    extension1920; Welcome to DCF....

Since you have upgraded from XP to Vista, you probably have deleted your Dell Imgae Restore Partition.

In your case, you can reimage it using the Disks that Dell sent you.

You must backup your data first, then install XP.... then do your Windows Updates.

After that, install your hardware one at a time... and reboot after each install.

Then install your software one at a time and reboot in between.

That is how you do a reinstall.

    * Although if I were you, I'd stay with Vista, just MHO.

    Peace

Hello. I have a Dell Inspiron E1705. When I first got the laptop last December, the oriinal design was for Windows XP...that February, Dell sent me a free upgrade CD fo Windows Vista. Now, I am hoping this will link to the problem I am having:

I wish to restore my computer to its factory defaults, but when I press the F8 key (the Advanced Boot Options menu appears), but my computer does not give me the choice to "Repair Your Computer." I was wondering if you can help me out. I appreciate it and thank you for your time.
