Recently out of nowhere i have been getting generic host processes for win32 and SVCHOST.exe Errors the error says the exception unknown software exception 0xc0000409 occured in the application at location 0x5b86a3c0. If i click ok it makes my computer seem like it isn't on the internet and i have to reboot.
If all the scans for malware come up clean, run the XP system file checker:
click start>run
type in: sfc /scannow
(space between sfc and /)
click ok
Insert XP CD if sfc requests it and reboot when it's done.
I am having the same problem and it clearly started with an automatic Windows Update. I used System Restore to go back a week and it works again. There are some links on Microsoft talking about this problem as being specific to certain computers. My research continues...
