Unwanted Software Removal Aid?
I just got a dual pentium and it's just as slow to boot XP as my 5 year old Sony 633mhz, due to all the extra junk Dell loads on it. There are lots of messages in various forums about getting rid of unwanted software Dell puts on to get fees from various vendors, that most folks never use. I don't care if it's shipped, just make it easier to get rid of it. DELL - PLEASE PROVIDE A UTILITY TO HELP CUSTOMERS IDENTIFY AND UNINSTALL ALL THE UNNEEDED JUNK, OTHER THAN XP AND MAJOR WIDELY USED TOOLS LIKE ADOBE ACROBAT. WE NEED THIS TO KEEP FROM CLOBBERING SETUPS TRYING TO GUESS WHAT CAN BE REMOVED. This should include an explanation what each item does, and whether it's required by the operating system or not.

If boot time is a problem , just go to msconfig and shut -off things that need not run at start.
START > RUN > type in > msconfig > OK > select start-up items , and uncheck what isnt needed.
At next boot , Windows will tell you , you are using selective start-up >>> just put a check in "don't show me again".

Everything is listed alpha , so is easy to use.
Just find the start-up item in question in the list provided at the site-- click it and it will tell you what it is , and if needed.
This will increase system resourses and reduce boot-times.
Of course if you want SPACE , you can always just go to ADD-REMOVE and delete the program you don't want.
Just be careful , and sure you what you are deleting.
