It installed fine but when I tried to configure it the system thought it was a normal mouse. What I was hoping for was to configure the scrollable regions of the pad.
I have a d830 latitude and found no drivers for the fingerprint reader and the touchpad scroll feature.
Hey Dell guys.. any news about when it will become available? Are you comfortable selling features that have no drivers? Come on guys, it's a mainstream Windows!!!
The Vista 64-bit driver for the fingerprint touchstrip can be found at
http://www.upek.com. Installing the driver will only fix the problem with "unknown device" showing up in Device Manager. If you want the fingerprint touchstrip to function, you will also need the Protector Suite QL from Upek. The software works well on my latitude D830 with Vista 64 bit.
I too struggled somewhat with drivers for the 64-bit version of VIsta Ultimate on my Latitude D830. But, I think I now have most if not all of the issues I was experiencing sorted out, including the ability to disable the touchpad and pointing stick (thanks to this forum thread). I wish that Dell's support and information for 64-bit drivers for those of us who choose to do clean installs of 64-bit versions was a bit better.
