I have 12 updates to Vista that have failed to install and the process does not provide the correct link to the error codes. I tried installing them one at a time and they still fail. One of them caused the system to be unbootable until I repaired the System with the Vista disk. Is there a known problem with the updates to Vista Ultimate that anyone knows about?
I have the same problem. It tells me that it is error code 80073712.In one inquiry they said I need to install a "stand alone" update downloader.I am not that well versed yet. Good luck and I will be watching for an answer to your inquiry.
Sorry to learn of update problems. I have two PC's with VISTA Op SYS. One is the BASIC version and the other ULTIMATE. My approach to updates is cautious and as a result I often wait and see prior to installing them. Given the install problem you have noted has caused some concern and I have never elected to mark the box "auto-install up-dates". I assume the majority of updates goes well and users go about their computer work. Thats OK as long as you are not the one to experience a problem.
I too will be interested in the replies to your question. I do remember reading yesterday that MS was pulling back one of the FEB 08 updates. A note to KB937287 states - "we made the decision to temporarily suspend automatic distribution of the update to avoid further customer impact while we investigate possible causes."
