Which SATA driver?

Hi all. Got another question.
Dim8400 with a 160g SATA hd. According to Dell's info on reinstalling WinXP, it says to load the SATA RAID controller as opposed to the SATA AHCI controller.
Is this correct even though I don't have a RAID setup? I do have a second 80g SATA drive installed which is working fine. I use it for tempoary stuff, pdf manuals, pictures, etc.
Also, as I asked in a previous post, after reinstalling WinXP (Home), do I install the Dell Desktop Software utility first or the Intel chipset software first?
Thanks again.
Jack

You dont have to use the raid setup at all... just go straight through the standard install. As long as your Sata drive shows up in the bios it will show in the xp install... stay away from the raid it wont work that way you only have one drive

also the secondary shouldnt be an issue... i would do the dell drivers if you have them since it usually has the intel chipset in there for the install

    Jacksmyname,

Both the chipset installation instructions and the Desktop System Software installation instruction links are on the same page here. The chipset drivers are required for Windows XP, so they should be installed first. The Desktop System Software adds support for peripherals and can be added any time after that.

Since you don't have a RAID setup, the information here may prove helpful during the XP installation.
