I own a Dell Dimension PC and recently had to replace the mainboard and also had to reinstall WIn XP and all other software to the hard disk(which wasn't replaced) . After having installed the operative system, Bios software and other drivers, I tried to activate windows. But everytime I type the product key which appears on the sticker label on the PC, I receive a "invalid product key" message. I used the rockxp program to verify the product key and the program gave me the same 25 digit product key, and it as exactly as it appears on the certificate of authenticity sticker on my pc.
What can I do to be able to activate the OS which is giving me a hard time to complete??
I've tried activating by phone before, tried explaining my problem to microsoft technical assistance by phone and they tell me that my key is valid and theres nothing they can do about it, they told me to contact the PC seller(Dell in this case) to try to get my problem solved
