In the future, by using the Advanced Forum Search on the bottom of this page, you can quite easily find the answer to this often asked question.

Since you would have set it, you don't "find it"...  If you forgot it, reboot and hit F8 to enter Safe mode, log in as Administrator, and change the password.

I am totally confused.  I have an old PC, which I use for testing (Windeows XP Pro/SP2).  There is an administrator password, and I know what it is.   The system is set not to use either the Welcome Screen or Fast User Switching, therefore I get the Login Dialog with out CTL-Alt-Del twice.  I tried the following experiment.  Booted into Safe Mode.   Enter "administrator" in the dialog box, and then hit ENTER.  I could not login.  Only when I enter both "administrator"m and the administrator password could I login.  I can not see how this procedure would possibility work "Log on to Windows in Safe Mode. At the Welcome screen press Ctrl-Alt-Delete twice. At the sign-in screen enter Administrator and leave the password blank. If you are not able to log on using a blank password, the program here can set it to blank."  P.S.  I appears to me if the procedure were to work, administrator passworks would provide little or no protection

    mustafavi,

Log on to Windows in Safe Mode. At the Welcome screen press Ctrl-Alt-Delete twice. At the sign-in screen enter Administrator and leave the password blank. If you are not able to log on using a blank password, the program here can set it to blank.

Once you are logged on as system administrator you can go to Start|Control Panel|User Accounts and reset or eliminated the password on your personal administrator account.

just a note; upon sucessfully setting a password, you should save the password reset key to a floppy or cd so you can reset if forgotten. under user accounts when signed in as admin, you can create a reset password disk.
