Windows XP Setup Access

I need to get to the OS setup screen but don't have a system CD because the computer is no longer shipped with one.  The DELL rep said everything I need is on the hard drive but I can't log onto widows to run it.  Is there a way to stop windows from loading and go directly to system setup on the hard drive?

Yes. You cannot access it through Windows anyway. http://support.dell.com/support/topics/global.aspx/support/kb/en/document?dn=1090151&c=us&l=en&s=dhs&cs=19 If it doesn't work, call Dell and get the disk.

very strange!!! no floppy.....no cd rom.
What is the specifications of your system?

my last suggestion is that you deattach your hard drive and attach it to a system (that has cd rom), get in to setup -> repair your windows and then take it back (attach the hard drive) to your system.

No, it's not. That is the Restore Partition you might be able to use. You cannot access the Recovery Console without the xp cd. The recovery console is on the xp cd. If you call and explain that you cannot access the restore partition, Dell will send you the operating system cd.

You don't need a floppy drive. Dell sends the xp cd when asked or ordered when buying a computer.
