Windows\system32\config\system
Hello, I went to boot up, right when windows was starting, all my power in my house flickered, (it was raining but no real bad) anyways, when I went to start it up again, I kkep getting
windows\system32\config\system might be missing or corrupt.
also, I cant use the CD to reinstall xp, or repair it. it wont reconize my hard drives. anyone ever have a problem like this? please help.

...it generally happens when the files in that specific diretory are corrupted..
if u feel like the data is important ....and donn't wannt to perform a re-install follow the steps...
1:Just copy all the files in that director onto a CD and paste them in the same directory using the recovery cosole....but remember every thing changes....and ask for the username and password of ur friends system ..so that u can login to ur system...bit tricky but works....;-)

How do you go to the BIOS and restore?I truly appreciate the sugestion...
I been thinking about my BIOS so far I ran an HDregenator, and my HD is free of errors and/or defects and when booting from "A" PC detects the HD. I will try to get help from Dell later today, maybe a new Setup XP CD. "I don'tknow" :smileysad:

- the same thing's happening to mine..and my coursework (due in in a fortnight) is on there. and she refuses to mark it unless its in on time. you can't see the setup, the harddrive or even the windows screen. it just says to re install it, but there's no cd. it says it's been corrupted. and i CANNOT lose all my work. i repeat this.

Go to the system BIOS and check if the hard disk drives are listed there. If yes, then do a repair using the recovery console. If no then check the hard disk drives on another system, could be that the part has failed due to the power failure..
