Upon system boot -- process stops to advise that "Windows registry or SYSTEM.INI file refers to this device file, but the device file no longer exists. If you want to use the application associated with this device file, try re-installing that application to replace the existing file." The file is stated as being WOL558.vxd. I have no idea where to locate that file to re-install it. Once manually by-passing the above message, system seems to operate ok, but will not restart itself without user intervention when the message appears on re-boot. Anybody no what application WOL558.vxd might be associated with?
That is a virtual device driver for a Fujitsu CP021060-1 disk drive. To eliminate the error message go to Start|Run, type
sysedit and click OK. Click the System.ini tab and use the search function for look for WOL558.vxd. When you find the line that refers to it, place a semicolon at the beginning of the line to prevent it from executing.
