Wrong OS on Reinstallation CD

I had to put in a new HD in my Inspiron.  I recently found out that the Reinstallation CD that is listed as XP Professional SP2 is actually Home Edition SP2.  (My system was pre-installed with XP, which I ordered and paid for).

Does anyone know how I can get the right CD?

This was a know issue about a year ago.  Dell was replacing the Cd's with the correct one.  Since it's approx a year old I don't know if Dell will replace it or not with the correct one but contact them.

If Dell won't replace it, you can borrow the correct CD from anyone you know that has it. eBay may also be a good source of them. The license comes with the machine, not the CD.

    Thanks for the info.

I will try the one I bought for my other system.

    Thanks:

I did not realize that the license came with the machine.  I have a bought copy of XP.  I will just try that one.

    Same problem here.

But this is what's on it...

Dell said they would replace with next day shipment.  That was almost two weeks ago.

Found out just now they cancelled the order after telling me they would replace it.

Needless to say, I AM NOT impressed...

Timing of all this is right though because I was weighing the pros and cons of switching to HP.

Bought a huge, honking first-class scanner (duplex document feed, 100 pages per minute) scanner from HP and a color laser printer and HP's customer support has been outstanding!
