xp error message

after opening a folder, and then closing it,I recieve an error message stating Windows Explorer encounters a problem.  Everything on the desktop disappears and then returns.   I was installing Vst instrument software, when I noticed the problem.  I started to uninstall software and did not help the problem.  In the error report it is saying that a file in hard drive(consumer local) is being sent with the error report.

    1. Click on start > run > type in msconfig click ok, goto the startup tab & click disable all to restart the system....If that works go back to msconfig and just click ur antivirus cos thts wht is needed.

    2. Look for the file name in which the error is caused...I am sure its not a windows file & if u goto del it u wont be able to.....so boot in safe mode search for the file & then del it.

    3. Click on start > run > type in sfc /scannow and click ok...make sure you have the windows xp cd in the CD Rom.
