XPS 9315 - Integrated camera not working, help appreciated.

I recently did a windows update and since ive noticed the integrated camera doesnt work, it doesnt appear as a device in the apps like teams, camera etc.

Details in device manager:

Camera Sensor OV01a (flagged)

This device is currently waiting on another device or set of devices to start. (Code 51)

Dependencies:
ACPI\INTC1095\5&1d3aa91a&0
ACPI\INTC1097\0

Intel(R) Visual Sensing Controller Device

Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)

I have tried rebooting, checking bios that its activated, tried new drivers it worked for a few mins then same thing have also tried earlier BIOS.

Also, i have noticed that the camera works with Windows Hello face recognition

Appreciated your input in how to rectify

    Hi everyone,

If your Dell XPS 9315 integrated camera isn’t working or shows errors like Code 43 or Code 51 in Device Manager, the issue is often related to BIOS settings or driver installation order. Follow the steps below to resolve the problem before considering hardware replacement.

    1. Check BIOS Settings:

      • Restart and press F2.
      • Go to Integrated Devices → Ensure Enable Camera is checked.

    2. Install Drivers in This Order:

        1. Intel Graphics or Arc Graphics Driver
        2. Intel Integrated Sensor Solution Driver (related to Intel Visual Sensing Controller / User Presence Detection)
        3. Intel Serial I/O Driver
        4. Intel 2D Imaging / MCU / Visual Sensing Controller Driver
        5. Intel Management Engine Components Installer
        6. Update BIOS to the latest version

    3. Driver Installation Notes:

      • Each driver may take 1–2 minutes to install, and no wizard may appear—wait for confirmation.
      • Reboot after completing all installations.
      • If the issue persists, uninstall incorrect drivers (especially under Camera and System Devices in Device Manager) before reinstalling.

    4. If the Issue Persists

If none of the above steps resolve the issue
, the problem may be hardware-related. In some cases, users have reported that replacing the LCD assembly (which includes the integrated camera) resolved the issue.

Presumably the ribbon cable to the motherboard (which serves the screen and web cams) was part of the replacement? Bad batch of ribbon cables perhaps with a variety of failure symptoms?

Why don't you just reinstate the warranty? That would be cheaper! My brother did this and had the repair done after that for no extra charge.

@Gopichandy In our case, only replacement of the display helped. same model of laptop as in topic

@user_345ece There should be no reason to explain a solution privately to someone on the same forum as you and over 80 other people trying to fix the problem. The point of a forum is for the answer and discussions to be public.

    Sigo igual.

Es increíble que Dell haga oídos sordos. He visto por internet miles de quejas iguales. ES impresionante. Pero de solución nada. He probado todos los reinstales posibles.

Muy fuerte y decepcionada con esta marca.

    @user_345ece
