Blue screen

Hello everybody,

I bough this brand new Alienware R2 17inch. Almost all the time I try to work architecture programs keeps showing me a blue screen and it restarts with different error codes . I uninstalled graphic drivers and reinstalled them back and at the beginning it looked like the problem vanished, but its back again. Any one had the same problem. Pleas let me know.

    Hello Klodburri,

I have been facing a similar issue since few weeks now. The problem started while playing game (Dota 2). However, I did the following to figure out the issue:

    1. Made sure the graphic drivers are updated. There was some issue with the Nvidia driver and it was showing a yellow exclamation in the device manager. Re-installing the driver fixed this.

    2. Run the System diagnosis and Dell diagnosis to make sure there are no hardware issues and the disks are good.

    3. I was getting a checking media presence... when restarting after the blue screen... and this was because the boot options in BIOS setup were not in the correct order. Here are the steps to fix this:

    - When restarting, press F2 to open the BIOS setup, navigate to Boot tab and make sure 'Windows Boot Manager'  (disk option) is placed above network options i.e IPV4 and IPV6. (In my case, 'Windows Boot Manager' option and SSD in the BIOS was missing; though my disks (HDD and SSD) were still visible in the device manager)

    - If 'Windows Boot Manager' is missing, get the BIOS .exe file from Dell website for your model and run the .exe. Even though the current BIOS version on your system is latest, running this file fixes it in case it is corrupted. Now the 'Windows Boot Manager' should be back but repeat the previous step to make sure it is 1st in the boot order. Restart system to confirm the fix.

After the above steps, the system works smoothly. But this isn't a permanent fix for me.

I am assuming my HHD or SSD might be loose, since I have also noticed moving the laptop caused the blue screen couple of times.

Please let me know if the above steps help. Also, help in case you find any other permanent solution.

    Thanks.
