I've noticed a lot of people being promised false ship dates for their orders. I am wondering if anyone else has yet proceeded to initiate legal action, or for those in Australia, reported this to the ACCC?
Code of Conduct policy which you agreed to when joining. DELL-Admin>
Given that this occurs regularly as reported by other customers, I do wonder if anyone else has taken action against this to have this addressed, and if so, what were the results?
As for Dell, who I would assume will also reply to this post, how can you explain how often this happens? How can you not foresee these "supply shortages?" Immediately after ordering, my estimated ship date changed, and now that date has passed, and still no update. Giving me free mouse does not rectify the issue. I would have gone with another company, if I knew that Dell could not deliver within the timeframe shown when ordering, but Dell knows this.
Dell does not charge (credit cards, anyway; if you paid some other way the policy may differ) until it ships the system.
Beyond that, just about everything is delayed if not in production than in shipping these days.
If Dell can't meet your time frame, cancel the order and either buy from a retailer that can (you'll likely have to compromise, as it's unlikely you'll find an identical system in stock) -- or buy a different system entirely.
At a time when ordering mundane things like refrigerators or furniture can be quoted well into 2022, there are global shortages in most industries -- electronics prime among them.
I understand that delays happen, and a lot of retailers / manufacturers especially in the PC world are experiencing them. However, Dell seems to intentionally quote a shorter timeframe in order to reel in customers. The reason I chose Dell for my order was due to this shorter timeframe,
I will undoubtedly be seeking legal action by reporting this to the ACCC. Isn't it funny how the paragraph quoting how Dell has breached Australian Consumer Law was removed, yet Dell is yet to speak to me? Ironic.
I ordered an R12 which is now showing a completion date of December 1st. Just a tad longer than the 2-3bd turnaround originally quoted!
