7773 + AC Adapter Unknown + Keyboard Issue
This laptop was working perfectly fine with the exception of it stating the battery was bad and needed replaced. So I obtained a new battery and installed it. Very straight forward.
After installing the battery the keyboard hardly works example I can type the letter "P" after about 10 seconds three Ps will be entered. This happens even when in the bios, the down arrows barely work and they skip entries. USB keyboard hooked up works fine.
The second problem that started at the same time was that the AC Adapter is now Unknown. So in response to this I purchased a new adapter (OEM Dell), and the problem remained. So I replaced the power socket on the laptop the problem remains. The battery charge percentage does not appear to be draining when it is plugged in.
So what can I do? This laptop is basically unusable.

Thank you for your reply. I put the original battery back in to see if the problem went away and it did not (I done this the other day forgot to include it in the original post).
I took the battery out and tried powering off of just the AC Adapter prior to replacing the jack and then again just now and the same results both times. It lights up (keyboard and front status light) then shuts right off.
The adapter is OEM, the jack is not. I am also getting proper voltage coming from the adapter, on the circuit board where the jack plugs up, and even at the battery. I tested this with both jacks for sake of through testing.
I have worked on computers majority of my life and this has me stumped.
The power issue is the primary concern, the keyboard is secondary at this point. I wonder if they are related though..

If the replacement battery is third party rather than OEM, it may have slightly different dimensions than the original, and with scant internal clearance, may be causing the issue with the keyboard. Do the keyboard issues disappear if the battery is removed? If so, that's the problem.
While you have the battery removed, does the system correctly sense the AC adapter? And were both the replacement adapter and jack OEM parts, or third party?
