Dell diagnostics time - F12 at powerup.  Run an extended test on the RAM and hard drive.

When a critical error is detected in Windows, your computer restarts itself to prevent any further damage.

This is a safety measure that is integrated into Windows. To further analyze the STOP error, we need to know the error code and information that is associated with the error.

This information is displayed when you turn off automatic restart. To turn off automatic restart, follow these steps:

1. Click Start 
    
   , then type "advanced system settings."
   The System Properties window appears.
2. Click the Advanced tab.
3. Under the Startup and Recovery section, select Settings....
4. Under System failure, uncheck the box next to Automatically restart.
5. Click OK, then click Apply and OK to complete the update.

It would help to know the exact system model (Inspiron N5110, 7779,etc.).

Basic troubleshooting:

Power off, unplug system.  Remove or disconnect the battery from the system board.  Hold the power button for 30 sec.

If the memory is removeable, remove and reinstall the memory module(s) and the hard drive or SSD.

Leave the battery disconnected, connect the AC adapter and see if the system will power up.

If it will without but not with the battery connected, the battery is faulty and will need to be replaced.

If it still won't pass POST to start loading Windows ... even to a setup screen ... try one memory module at a time until you isolate the faulty module (replace that) or faulty socket.  If the socket is bad, or the foregoing procedures produce no results, replace the system board.

howdy / you didnt read my post either , there is NO error code there is NOTHING just a dull blue screen at start up , NO Dell loading spiral just straight to dull blue , there is not even a mouse cursor on the screen and pushing F12 repeatedly does NOTHING

howdy ejn63 / this is the 3rd time writing this [ didnt save it first two] this system times you out if you take to long to reply / well l turned it off [30 sec], flip over notice fan still running ,flip over open up self loads [ blue screen], hold button 1 min till all lights out , flip over fan still running , flip over open up self loads again [ blue screen] hold button for 5 min till fan does shut off , remove battery for a day , install and boot to DELL welcome screen then right to blue screen , but this time a warning on the screen says "updates installing do not turn off computer " it does this two times by restarting till finally loads normally , l check windows installed updates and these are the new ones listed that the lap was stuck on [ for over 3 weeks ]  KB 4565483 - KB 4497165 - KB 4569751 with an installed date of 9/4/2020 / so as of today the lap works albeit slower than normal  , so what you you think l should do with it now as far as diagnostics
