Dell Express Sign-in Problem

7400 2-in-1 with Express Sign-in is very handy, but there is a problem: Each time Windows 10 restarts, it forgets the previous setting, i.e., both 'Near' and 'Away' will be set to OFF. I have to set them after each restart.

Can't Express Sign-in remember the setting?

I have exactly the same issue.

Got my 7400 in July and reported a few issues with ExpressSign-In to Dell at the time. They replaced the motherboard. I had to re-install Windows 10, which resolved the initial problems, but the issue you've described is what is still happening to my 7400.

Were you able to resolve it?

No, this apparently is the software problem that Dell needs to fix, nothing to do with hardware.

My 7400 2-in-1 wasn't remembering the settings either.

I updated to the latest firmware (1.6) yesterday using Dell Command|Update and so far it has been working. It's too early to say it's fixed, but it looks promising. I'll re-post next week to say how it went.

    Agreed. Still not working reliably.

I close the lid to put the laptop to sleep and then leave it overnight. The following morning I open the lid and press the power button to turn the device on. I go into Display settings and can see that Dell ExpressSign-In is enabled but the laptop is not actually doing it, so I have to turn it off then turn it on in order to make the ExpressSign-In work during the day.

Then the whole cycle repeats the next day and so on. Very annoying.

I'm still following this issue with Dell support. Very weak support that they keep asking the same questions again and again trying to prove their software has no problem.

Few things that might clue you in regarding the Dell Express Sign-In feature:

    • Read the KB, these articles explain how it works in certain scenarios and whether you use it right

    Dell Express Sign-in Knowledge Base

    • Is your Dell updated with latest drivers and firmware to support Express Sign-In?

Install Dell Command | Update 3.1

    • Are you on the latest Express Sign-In version?

    Download Version 1.1.11.68, A07

    • Windows 10 didn't install required components for Express Sign-In to work. Action:

Settings > Update and Security > Check for Updates until you see NO UPDATES AVAILABLE

Do you have 7400 2-in-1? If yes do you experience the same problem as described in the post?
