i know about the  tested compatability by dell but what I was wondering is would something like a Core i7-3632QM work?

Dell has tested the i7-3540M (3.0 - 3.7 GHz, 4MB Cache, 2 Cores). As for the i7-3632QM (2.2 - 3.2 GHz, 6 MB Cache, 4 Cores), you'll have to try it yourself or wait for someone in the forum that has has already done it to tell you if it works with the E5430. With those impressive specs the i7-3632QM will really make your Latitude fly!
