I've been looking for the conexant modem drivers that Dell has been promising to make available. Two weeks ago, I was told it would be 1 to 2 weeks. Here we are, two weeks later, and they are still not available for download. Is there any news regarding this problem?

The conexant drivers should be posted this week.
Obviously, I must not be looking in the right place. I've looked
HERE,
HERE, and
HERE.
I don't think they'll be posting a link. I received a private message from one of the moderators in response to a post from the live forum. Due to the fact Dell has to pay for the driver.
Ever since switching to broadband, I have yet to use a modem. However, when the need arises, I would be happy to pay a couple bucks (no more than $10) for it.
It's bundled with the install. There is no download link that yet, and I don't think there will be one. They'll probably have user access via service tags.
I've been so busy with work, I hadn't checked back until just now... and I'm thrilled to report that the driver is available at support.dell.com !! When I choose my system (E1505), I can now select Ubuntu as my OS, and the driver for the Conexant modem comes up as a recommended download. Click, download to my local deb repository and done. I'll be testing it tomorrow with my fall-back dial-up service and if I feel industrious, I'll see about setting up faxing.
Thank you, Jesse & Dell Linux team -- this is the one thing that was make me absolutely insane!
