Solution: (Using Windows XP)

- Right click on My Computer > Properties > Hardware Tab > Device Manager

- Extend the IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers group

- Go back to the Device Manager and extend the same group again.

What model PC and Operating System? and what model CD drive?  Without the specifics no one can give you assistance directly related to your system.

Also, your post really belongs on the CD/DVD section of the forum since it's a CD drive issue, not really an Audio issue.

Finally check out The Predator's site and see if anything pertains to your specific model and issue, his site is primarily Dell related.  If not, repost on the CD/DVD section and include the system specs listed above.  Click Me

Uninstall the drive in the Windows Device Manager and then  restart Windows and it will redetect it and install it.  Sometimes that will refresh the drivers and flakey problems.

Have you tried different media players?  I've found that they do not all "play" the same.  I have MusicMatchJukebox, Windows Media Player 10 and WinAmp, and several others.  MMJB seems to be the worst at having an occasional gitch or interruption playing CD's where Windows Media Player does not on my PC.
