Blue Screen- Need Help!

Hello,
I have a Dimension 8400 (for a little over a year now)
& my computer goes to a blue Screen (freezes) when I am in the process
of burning a DVD/CD. Sometimes it just "Blue Screens" when I am in the middle
of another application.
What could be causing this & how do I fix this problem?
I get the following error message( but I have not done anything different to my computer):
Thanks

A Problem has been detected and Windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer

If this is the first time you have seen this stop error screen restart your computer if this screen appears again follow these steps

Check to make sure any new hardware or software is properly installed. If this is a new installation ask your hardware or software manufactor for any windows updates you might need

If problem continues disable or remove any newly installed hardware or software

Disable Bios memory options such as caching or shadowing

If you need to use safemode to remove or disable a component to restart your computer press F8 to

select advanced start up opions & then select safe mode

    Hello.  Fellow 8400 user here.
If you have during the course of your ownership of the 8400 never reformatted and reinstalled the operating system, then you are in need to do so at this time.  This sounds like a systemic Windows problem and only reformat/reinstall is the sure way to diagnose the problem (and hopefully fix it at the same time.)
Don't rush into the reformat -- msg me or post here if you want specific 8400 reformat/reinstall assistance.

Run the crash analysis tool by DELL. It resolves BSOD problem.
