i recently formatted my hard drive and now whenever i play a song or movie, the speed of the sound is faster than it should be but it takes the same amount of time as normal. what could be my problem?

Did you install the Dell device drivers and the sound card drivers?  Fast sound, according to a posting from a Dell moderator, can happen if the generic Windows drivers are used instead of the Dell supplied sound card drivers.

I've had a similar problem - and re-installing the Dell-supplied drivers doesn't fix it.  Does anyone have any other suggestions?

thanks for replying - in the end, I uninstalled the drivers and re-installed them a couple of times and it now works, but I'm not sure why it finally decided to?!!
