Installing digital camera software
Trying to make a Nikon CoolPix 775 camera work with my Dimension XPS T600. Installed the two pieces of software and a screen came up to find the driver on the CD. Then it didn't work. Uninstalled the software and tried again. Nothing. Uninstalled again, but now it's telling me when I try to reinstall that it's already installed. If someone has a suggestion, I'd appreciate it.

I don't have a solution for you but I'd be interested to hear any suggestions. I too have a Nikon Coolpix 775. When I installed the software it worked to download the pictures to the computer (I have a Dimension XPS D-300 running Win 98 SE) but my HP Deskjet stopped working. The system says the "parameter is incorrect". When I remove the camera software the printer works again as if nothing has happened.
Tried reinstalling several times - always got the same results.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions anyone may have for solving this problem.

Didn't mean to step on you. I sent my reply to the wrong message. Anyway, I now have the printer working by not installing one of the programs (the picture editing program) that came with the camera. I'll wait a day or two and see if I can add that and have it work. If it doesn't I'll just continue to use MS PhotoDraw for picture editing.

I just got back on the computer and installed the NikonView software but NOT the Cumulus picture editing software. The printer now is aware of itself
and seems to print OK. I'll leave it this way for a day or so and then try adding the Cumulus software (which I suspect is the culprit here). If the printer hands again I'll know what the problem is and delete the Cumulus software.
I usually use MS PhotoDraw to do photo editing and I'll just continue to do that. Can't bring myself to spring for PhotoShop Elements or the full version of PhotoShop right now.

Most photographers I know, myself included, who own Nikon digital camera have not been very satisfied with Nikon software. A $30 investment in a USB memory card reader saves a lot of time and trouble.

Thanks for the information Ron. I'll look into that. My system has two USB ports on the back of the computer and they are both used by the printer and scanner. I'll have to get a USB hub but they don't cost that much either.
I agree the Nikon software leaves a bit to be desired.

Well, the Nikon software doesn't play well with others. It messes up my HP printer every time. It's the Nikon downloading software that causes the problem not the Cumulus software.
So, it's off to the store to get a usb hub and a usb memory card reader.

I just bought a Nikon 885 and had the same problem and went to the www.Nikonusa.com and downloaded file Nikon_USB_Update.zip and it corrected the problem. I have a Dimension 733r and all appears to be working well.

Dave,
I have problems with my Coolpix 2100 which is not connecting with my Dimension 8250 XP Home Edition, although works fine on other computer. May be that file -Nikon_USB_Update.zip -can solve my problem but I dont see it at nikonusa.com . Where did you download it? Thanks
